The first component is the condenser, located outside on either your roof or the ground. The condenser pumps refrigerant thru the system, which is what cools the line. The second piece is the coil, which draws the heat and the third part is the furnace. The furnace is located inside. Usually in a closet, the garage, or laid horizontally in an attic. The electric AC provides the cooling and the gas furnace provides the heat.
